JOINT-CRISIS COMMITTEE

JCC:REFORM

Topic: The Fall of Joseph Estrada, Philippines Constitutional Coup

BACKGROUND GUIDE (COMING SOON)

Committee Profile

At the precipice of a new century, how much longer will the Filipinos slave under the burden of dictators? No longer is the disgraced president Joseph “Erap” Estrada fighting for the common man; his corrupt and conniving gambling schemes are the last straw for his criminal presidency. The Reformist “Anti-Estradites” Bloc believes that “Erap NO para sa mahirap” (Erap is not for the poor). Though we strive for a swift impeachment of the president, we aren’t afraid to use extraneous measures—like an EDSA approach—to ensure Manila's democracy doesn’t deteriorate further. The Reformist Bloc is a growing coalition from all backgrounds, consisting of aspiring civil activists, key media officials, religious leaders, and even some military defectors who understand that Estrada's rule is anything but proper. To ensure Manila’s growth in spite of the Erap presidency, the Reformist Bloc must work toward garnering further senate support, securing critical military alliances, and building rapport with integral religious and media members, all the while working to maintain existing networks and create stronger economic alliances. We don’t hide behind millions of dollars, we don’t bend to corruption, we roar KUNG WALANG CORRUPT, WALANG MAHIRAP (If there’s no corruption, there’s no poverty), and we won’t rest until Manila is freed from Estrada.
